Zyzzyva 1.1.0 screenshot leaked!
Okay, I'm leaking the screenshot myself. After a few weeks of major code overhaul whenever I have a spare moment, the bleeding edge version of Zyzzyva can now handle multiple lexicons. This allows cool things like the # symbols you see in the screenshot. I just now, about five minutes ago, implemented the final bit of code to make this possible. At this point, most of what remains to be done should be downhill work - making sure I didn't break anything, cleaning up minor issues, making everything pretty, writing documentation, etc.

I hope to release Zyzzyva 1.1.0 within a week or two. That ought to give Texas Sowpods contestants (like me) a fair head start on some Collins study. I expect this version may even make the world lexicon more accessible to any OWL players who are curious about it, since you can easily flip a switch and see what shows up. Are you excited? I am.

OMG I LOVE YOU! :P
we had a kinda work around in zyzzyva, but studying for causeway(i know, i know, i'm complaining based on a minor hassle for like two weeks, sue me!) was a pain coz i had no idea how to separate looked-up words without the # other than manually, especially since our version of lexpert didn't have new words for csw...but then i heard u were working on this and i was all excited, but decided not to bug you :P. Thanks a ton for your work! (even tho i don't even know when i'll be using it next..)

You rule, dL :-) I've been working hard on Zyzzyva this weekend, and I really, really hope to release the new version very soon! I'm already finding it very useful, not only to see # for Collins words, but also % for new OWL2 words. Oh yeah, and ! for expurgated words, heheh.

Heck yeah! I switched probably about a year ago. Maybe a little longer, I forget. I actually switched from Linux, as I've never, ever been a fan of Windows. OS X rocks my world. One of these days I'll pony up to buy a copy of Leopard.

Very much looking forward to this particular update, and terribly belated thanks for pretty much everything you've done with Zyzzyva thus far.

Thanks! I'm excited about it. I'm already finding it useful as well.

Just last night in fact, Larry Rand sent an email about GYMNAST/SYNTAGM, and I was pretty sure SYNTAGM was new in OWL2. Previously I would have done something like "Anagram Match: AGMNSTY, Belongs to Group: New in OWL2" to find out whether I was right. But that's kind of weird, because it only brings up the one word, not both, which is a bit jarring. And if you get no search results, you have to double-check that you did everything right, and that your word really was not new in OWL2. Not super painful, but still, ugh.

Last night, I just pulled up a search window, made sure the lexicon said OWL2, and searched for Anagram Match: AGMNSTY. Up came both anagrams, with a little % symbol next to SYNTAGM. Much, much nicer.

Yeah, I guess this means I pretty much *have* to sleep with you now, don't I...haha. Really, this news is awesome and I can't wait to start using the new Zyzzyva. Well done!

You don't know how long I've been waiting for you to say that, my darling! Errmm, uhhh... anyway, I remember when you emailed me a couple years ago saying that Zyzzyva looked cool but you probably wouldn't use it much until it could do the # thing. I did want to implement that at some point, but I estimated that point to be pretty far in the future. I can hardly believe it's here! Took me long enough. Actually, one of the (minor) reasons I committed to playing in Texas Sowpods is because I knew it would force me to implement this Zyzzyva feature for my own benefit. It seems I have to trick myself into being productive.

This update doesn't really do anything for me, but I'll chime in with everyone else and say thanks a bunch for a great piece of software.
